Seoul and Busan Trip 2013 - Day 1 - How to go to Seoul Station from Incheon International Airport South Korea

NOTE:PLEASE ASK PERMISSION BEFORE YOU RE POST MY PHOTOS ON TO YOUR BLOG. THERE ARE SOME BLOGGERS WHO DID NOT ASK MY PERMISSION AND REPOST MY PHOTOS WITHOUT THE COURTESY OF LINKING BACK TO MY BLOG. THIS IS LIKE STEALING. PEOPLE, I HAVE SPEND MUCH TIME TAKING PHOTOS AND DOING HOMEWORK ON MY TRAVELLING INFORMATION AND KINDLY SHARE THESE INFORMATION TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN THEM. IF NECESSARY, I WILL POST SCREEN SHOT OF YOUR BLOG TO SHOW YOUR BAD MANNERS OF STEALING MY PHOTOS. THE MOST DISGUSTING THING THEY DID WAS TO SCREEN SHOT MY PHOTOS AND CORP OFF MY BLOG TITLE FROM MY PHOTO AND REPOST THEM IN THEIR BLOG AS THEIR OWN.

Finally after more than six hours, we reached Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea. South Korea is one hour ahead of Singapore time.

After exiting the plane, we just followed the directions to take the shuttle train to another terminal to the immigration.

Waiting for the shuttle train to get to the other terminal.

After clearing the immigration, we went to collect our luggages.

From this point, we have to decide what mode of transport we wanted to take to Seoul Station to board the KTX Train to Busan, since we have already done some homework, the cheapest way was to take the airport train to Seoul Station.

Look at the left side of the photo, those are airport buses that can bring you direct to Seoul Station or hotels. Taking the airport bus could cost more than 14000 won depending on your destnation.

Easy to find where to board the airport train by following the signs and directions, but first we need to purchase the T money card before boarding the train. The T money card works just like Singapore EZ link Card. The card can be purchased from the convenience shop near the airport train stations.

T-money is a transportation card used to pay for transportation fares, and, in some cases, transactions at convenience stores. The T-money function is often added onto various payment (credit/debit) and discount travel cards. Also, the remaining balance on the T-money card can be refunded after a 500-won service charge deduction. Moreover, T-money does away with the hassle of purchasing single journey subway tickets.

You can read more about the T money card from the official website of Visit Korea.

You can also purchase tickets from the vending machine if you decide not to purchase the T money card.

There are two types of AREX trains to Seoul Station from Incheon Airport - the nonstop express line from Incheon International Airport to Seoul Station, and the commuter line with 10 subway station stops. The difference of course is the fare, the non stop express train costs 14,300 won while the commuter line costs 4050 won. Travel time of Commuter train: Incheon International Airport – Seoul Station: 53 minutes while travel time of Express Line: Incheon International Airport – Seoul Station: 43 minutes. So difference is only ten minutes so makes sense to take the cheaper commuter line.

The train stations are opposite each other so make sure you go to the right station of your choice. (Look at my photos for the difference that I circled in red.)

Just tap the T money card on the gantry to scan the card and once inside just follow the signs and directions.

Seoul station is the final destination so dont worry about when to alight, anyway there's announcement to indicate each station when the train stops to pick passengers.

You can read more information on the different ways to get to downtown Seoul from Incheon International Airport from the official website of Visit Korea.
